Jason Rance has praised the Bucks Cricket pathway after five players were named in the 2023 Northants CCC Academy.
The County Ground-based club named Aadi Sharma, Aatish Anthathi and Raphael Weatherall, who are products of the Bucks Cricket pathway, as are young fast bowlers Sai Boorghu and Yashas Kochar, have joined the Academy and are capable of bowling express pace.
In addition, George Weldon has been awarded a rookie professional contract.
Rance told the Northants CCC website:
I’m delighted that Sai and Yash have progressed onto Northamptonshire’s Academy. They have been exceptional this winter and it’s no surprise to me that they have been given this opportunity.
It’s another great step in building our partnership as they follow in Aadi [Sharma], Aatish [Anthathi], Raphy [Raphael Weatherall] & George [Weldon]’s footsteps making it six Bucks players in the last couple of years.
It’s another great day for Bucks Cricket. Our talent pool is getting better and better and it’s brilliant that there is a clear pathway for players to join a 1st class county. Northants have a track record of giving younger players an opportunity and with George Weldon signing his rookie contract, these 5 have every chance of following his footsteps. It’s a proud day and we will follow their development with great interest.
