Bursaries funded by the generous support of the England and Wales Cricket Trust are intended to increase the diversity of learners taking their first step into coaching, gaining a qualification or taking the next step on their coach development journey.
Groups that have been identified to increase the diversity of learners accessing coach development programmes are:
· Potential coaches/coaches that are female
· Potential coaches/coaches from ethnically diverse communities
· Potential coaches/coaches with a disability
· Potential coaches/coaches experiencing financial hardship.
A bursary can be awarded to learners that register on ECB Support Coach, ECB Foundation Coach or ECB Core Coach programmes between 1st February 2025 and 31st January 2026.
Anyone wanting to access coach development that is experiencing financial hardship will be awarded a bursary of up to 100% of the national price of the programme. Once an applicant receives confirmation of being awarded a bursary, they will need complete their Cvent registration using a discount code to redeem their bursary.
Anyone wanting to access coach development that is female, from an ethnically diverse community, has a disability who is not experiencing hardship will be awarded a bursary of up to 50% of the national price of the programme. Once an applicant receives confirmation od being awarded a bursary, they will need to complete their Cvent registration and make full payment and upon attendance at face-to-face modules receive a refund to redeem their bursary.

Tom is an ECB Level 4 coach and current batting coach at Essex CCC. Tom played professionally for Northamptonshire before a long spell with Suffolk. Tom was appointed batting coach in 2019 having previously held the position of Talent Pathway Manager at Essex CCC.

The ECB Core Coach programme is an entry level qualification for coaching cricket in England and Wales. The programme is a blend of e-learning and face-to-face modules led by ECB Coach Developers will explore the player-centred planning process, player development, the skills you can help players to develop and how you can learn from your experiences.

In partnership with The Metro Bank Girls in Cricket, ECB have adapted the ECB Core Coach programme for existing and potential coaches from clubs with a girls’ section and clubs starting a girls’ section wishing to become qualified to coach cricket, inspire and develop girls and make a difference to the game.
We are delighted to announce that will be hosting The Metro Bank Girls in Cricket Fund ECB Core Coach later this year and next year. Click on the 'ECB Core Coach' green section above to view courses available.
Outcomes
The Metro Bank Girls in Cricket Fund ECB Core Coach is designed to develop a coach’s knowledge, skills and confidence to lead player-centred coaching sessions for girls in clubs.
