As Bucks Cricket moves into our new strategic cycle and County Partnership Agreement with ECB from 2025 to 2028, it is the aspiration of Bucks Cricket that our Men’s and Women’s teams fully represent Buckinghamshire and are part of Bucks Cricket’s all-round objective to develop the game and raise the standard of cricket in the county. Therefore, it is Bucks Cricket’s desire for Bucks Men and Women’s representative players to play for Clubs that are located within the county borders.
BUCKS CRICKET MEN 1ST XI and 2nd XI/WOMEN’S 1ST XI ELIGBILITY CRITERIA
The eligibility criteria for all Men’s National Counties adult teams is as agreed with the ECB and set out in their County Partnership Agreement.
The requirement is that at least eight members of Bucks Cricket’s ‘County 1st XI’ cricket team each meet at least one of the following criteria in each competitive match:
The Men’s 1st XI and Women's 1st XI will follow these criteria. The Men’s 2nd XI will only have up to one “outside” player.
Clause 1: In accordance with Bucks Cricket’s aspiration, for each of these teams where two players of the same level are competing for selection the relevant selection panel will be tasked with selecting the player who has come through the Bucks Cricket Pathway, and/or plays for a Cricket Club that is both situated within the county borders of Buckinghamshire and Milton Keynes and affiliated to Bucks Cricket, over an “outside” player.
As with all selections there will be an element of subjectivity to the perceived “level” of each player but the principle will be applied as fairly as possible and each case will be reviewed by Bucks Cricket at the end of each season.
BUCKS CRICKET BOYS & GIRLS U11-18 PATHWAY
Players may play for the Pathway from U11 to U18 if they meet any of the Pathway criteria:
TRANSITION PERIOD AND EXCEPTIONS
Those already on the U11-U18 Pathway who do not meet the updated criteria will continue to eligible.
Those who have already represented the Men’s or Women’s 1st XIs - who do not meet the updated criteria - continue to be eligible if they met the eligibility criteria through playing for a Club situated outside the Bucks county borders that previously affiliated to Bucks CCC – i.e. Tring Park CC and Harefield CC - and continue to represent that same Club.
Similarly, if a player played Junior cricket for Tring Park or Harefield CC, and now plays Senior cricket at the same Club while also meeting one of the other eligibility criteria (e.g. played in the Bucks Cricket Pathway),they will be exempt from Clause 1 in Men’s and Women’s selections.
In addition, it is possible that there may be an exception to the above criteria but this is anticipated to be extremely rare if at all.
