Bucks Men bowed out of the National Counties Trophy after a 47-run defeat to Dorset in their quarter-final at Wimborne on Sunday.
Opting to bat first on a flat pitch with a fast outfield, Dorset scored freely and posted 278-9 from their 50 overs. Joseph Eckland led the way with 86 from 85 balls, including 13 fours.
There were several other useful contributions, while Tom Weymes claimed three wickets for Bucks. Ed Bragg was the most economical bowler.
In reply, Bucks lost debutant Sheridon Gumbs early, followed by Aadi Sharma first ball. However, Cameron Hemp (42) and skipper Alexei Kervezee steadied the innings with a third-wicket stand of 78.
Kervezee then found a solid partner in Ed Horsley, and at 156-3 after 30 overs, Bucks appeared to be in a strong position.
But Kervezee was caught on the boundary for 74 from 67 balls, and Ross Richardson and Cam Parsons fell in quick succession.
Horsley battled on for 39 but received little support, and Bucks were eventually bowled out for 231 in 46.1 overs.
Dorset will face Berkshire away in the semi-finals. Bucks Men are next in action this Sunday when they play Bedfordshire in their first National Counties T20 double-header at Chesham.
