Busy time for our Over 60s including match v USA
28 Jul 2025

We have a busy couple of weeks coming up so I thought it was worth reminding people of a few things.

On Monday 4th August

Our Over 60s 1st team play a 30 overs per side match against the USA Over 60s National side.

The match is at Bledlow Ridge CC with a 2pm start.

Tea will be provided for players and officials only. There will be food available from the "Onsite Cafe" for those not having booked a tea.

No one has responded to book a tea.

We would like all of the 1st team players to wear a Buckinghamshire CCC White playing shirt. If you do not have one they are available from Gentlemen and Players in Victoria Street, High Wycombe.

We would like all of the 1st team players to wear a purple travelling shirt for the day. I have stock at £19 each. I do need to restock XLarge size and will have them by the end of this week. Please let me know if you require one.

Please come and support our Over 60s 1st team.

All players should / must wear the white County shirt and green cap for matches. Plus we do like players to travel in the purple shirts.

On Wednesday 6th August

we are hosting the 1st One Day International between England Over 60s and USA Over 60s. The match is at Winchmore Hill (Penn) CC.

The match is of 45 overs per side and commences at 12.00 noon. We are hopeful that Temoor Alam will be part of the England team.

Tea will be provided for players and officials only. The Club will be providing tea and cake for a small charge.

There will be a BBQ available from after 5pm.

We and the Club are keen to make this a special day, please come and support the occasion.

We will be holding a prize draw, donations of prizes most welcome.

We will know, soon after the final matches tomorrow and Thursday, our opponents in the various Knock Out Competitions. As soon as we know we will forward the fixtures. At the moment it looks like all of our teams will have away matches, that could change after tomorrow though.

On Sunday 17th August

We will be joining Worcestershire CCC Over 60s and Over 70s for a Ron's March for The Bob Willis Fund at New Road. Worcestershire are playing a one day match v Gloucestershire. All walkers will receive a ticket to the match. PSA testing has been arranged at the ground. The Worcestershire Male Voice Choir will be entertaining the crowd in the lunch interval. This is the last chance to book tickets. Please let me know asap.

On Thursday 25th September

We will be walking from The Eric Morecambe Centre in Harpenden and on Friday 26th September at The Utilita Bowl, Southampton, as they host Surrey in a County Championship match.

Details of these walks to follow asap.

On the evening of Friday 26th September

The Truro Male Voice Choir and Oxford Man Choir will be performing a concert and raising awareness of Prostate Cancer PSA testing at The Masons Arms, Headington, Oxford OX3 8LF. The concert starts at 7.30pm. There are only 60 tickets available so book soon. Tickets are free but donations to The Bob Willis Fund are welcome.

The Silver Stumps podcast was updated 4 times last week due to the matches against Australia. The final one covers the dramatic deciding match and also features an interview re Ron's March.

You can find the podcasts by going to http://www.6070cc.co.uk and clicking on features. It also covers 60s and 70s matches and Bucks do get a few mentions.
