We are delighted to share that Cara Duggan has been confirmed as the Buckinghamshire Women’s Captain for the 2026 season, continuing her role for a fourth year.
The all-rounder began her journey with Bucks Girls U11s, and after scoring 1000 runs and 50 wickets for Bucks Women 1st XI, became our 9th Women's Capped Player.
Cara took on the role of Captain in 2023, and enjoyed some success by reaching the Tier 3 Vitality Blast Final, as well as a 4th placed finish in the Metro Bank One Day Cup.
We spoke with our Women’s Captain and asked her what we can expect in the upcoming 2026 season.
Here’s what she had to say:
Q1. Firstly, how does it feel to be able to captain your county once again?
Answer: It feels really good, I love the girls and Bucks is my home. We had such a successful year on and off the pitch last year, I'm super excited to see what this year brings.
Q2. After a great 2025 season, are you looking to go one step further and aim for some silverware?
Answer: Yes definitely. We were unlucky to not win some last year, but we wouldn't have said that was the goal and we still got there, so definitely looking forward to seeing what happens when we put our minds to it!
Q3. Finally, on a personal level, what will you take from 2025 and put into next season as a captain?
Answer: I know the girls are at their best when I'm at my best. Leading from the front put us in great positions last year, so building on my rounded game over the winter will help propell us forward in 2026! I'm really looking forward to it.
Women's Lead Coach, Ben Ungaretti expressed his excitement: "Cara’s reappointment as Captain reflects both her consistency and her influence on the wider squad.
"From a coach perspective, her standards set the tone for how we prepare, compete and carry ourselves.
"She brings clarity in decision making, a calm presence in pressure moments and a genuine commitment to developing the players around her.
"Her leadership has been a stabilising force for Bucks cricket, and another season with her at the helm gives us continuity, ambition and a competitive edge.
"I’m confident the group will continue to grow under her guidance and that she will lead with the same integrity and drive that earned her this role again."
