John Turberville

I write to inform you of the passing of John Turberville last Thursday 30th June.
John was well known to members having served on the Club Committee for many years. He established a very successful Insurance business which enabled him to be a very generous benefactor to the Club. He sponsored many of our matches and the teams’ clothing. It was at his suggestion that the BuCks 100 scheme was instituted, which has raised many thousands of pounds for the benefit of the Club.
In his younger days he was a fine footballer and single figure golfer, but his abiding passion was cricket. As those who had the privilege of speaking to him know, he was knowledgeable and sometimes incorrigible but everything he said, however argumentative, was always said with a twinkle of the eye and more than a grain of truth.
He had been ill for some time and will be greatly missed by his family and all who knew him.
HIs funeral will be on Tuesday 2nd August at 11.30 am at Amersham Crematorium, Whielden Lane, Amersham HP7 0ND.
