A spectacular innings by Josh Lincoln helped Bucks Men defeat Oxfordshire by 109 runs in their second National Counties Trophy group game at Thame Town CC on Sunday.
Having been put in to bat on a slow pitch, Bucks were really struggling at 100-6 from 32 overs before Lincoln, playing only his second game of the county, transformed the game. The High Wycombe batter smashed 87 from just 44 balls with an amazing eight sixes and fours, taking particular toll on the Oxon spinners.
Lincoln and Ed Bragg, who scored 42 from 44 balls, added 123 for the seventh wicket in just 12 overs and enabled Bucks to reach an impressive 257-8 from their 50 overs.
The hosts struggled to get going after losing skipper Harrison Ward in the first over of their reply. Tight bowling, led by skipper Conner Haddow's 3-15 from 9.1 overs, and some brilliant fielding, highlighted by two super catches in the deep by Billy Dodds saw Oxon succumb to 148 in the 41st over.
Following their two wins, Bucks Men top Group 4 and will be hoping to move closer to a place in the knock-out stages of this competition when they host Dorset at Tring Park this Sunday.
